Our Deacons

Let’s meet our Deacons.

Mary Ann and Bill

Bill Riggs
Bill and Mary Ann Riggs have been Somerset County, PA. natives all of their lives. They met in high school and were married in 1972. Both Mary Ann and Bill enjoy overseas missions and have been to Haiti many times. For business, Bill has traveled to many countries around the world and enjoys being in different cultures. Bill’s favorite hobbies are singing and flying. Bill became part of the Lord’s Church in 1972 largely due to the influence of Mary Ann whose grandfather, I.F. Woodrow, was the long time minister at the Somerset Church of Christ.

Bill has worked for the family business, Riggs Industries, for 40 years and enjoys his work in the truck and trailer industry. Mary Ann and Bill have three adult children, Michael, Julie, and Emily who all live in the Somerset area. Bill has a love for singing, especially acapella singing, and appreciates modern songs, praise songs, and the great timeless hymns as well.

Mike Lowry

Born and raised in Somerset County, I found Somerset Church of Christ in my 30s after a winding path that showed me how much God cared for me and the people of this community. After graduating from Shanksville Stonycreek High School, I got a BA in Sociology from University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2002. I worked for several years in the child welfare field before settling in at the Human Resources Department of Conemaugh Health System in Johnstown, PA. These experiences allowed me to see how great the need for Christ is in our community. Outside of work and church, I am an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan and enjoy hiking and snowshoeing on the many beautiful trails of the Laurel Highlands. I have two daughters that I enjoy spending time with as well. I began my walk with Christ in late 2014 and was baptized in the spring of 2015. I am happy to serve this congregation and this community as we work to grow the body of Christ and spread the Gospel in Somerset County.

Brent Ragsdale
Brent Ragsdale was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and spent much of his life in Central Pennsylvania. They have two boys, Kyle and Colby, that both enjoy helping their grandfather on the farm. Brent works as an accountant for Beitzel Corporation.
